 Troop 525 - May 2014

Welcome to the website of Troop 525 in Peachtree Corners, GA! Chartered with eight boys in August 1984 Troop 525 is boy-led and each is required to hold leadership positions as he advances in rank. The troop meets each Monday night, while school is in session, beginning at 7:30 PM at Simpsonwood United Methodist Church (SUMC) 4500 Jones Bridge Circle, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092. This site contains information for the scouts, parents, members and volunteers of our troop. Visitors are always welcome. Come join us!

Boys who are older than 10, or who have completed the fifth grade can join the Boy Scouting program.  Cub Scouting is for boys in the first through fifth grades, or 7 to 10 years of age. For information about Cub Scouts please contact Pack 525 (pack525cubmaster @ gwinnettbsa dot org).

SEPTEMBER OUTING - Silver Comet Trail - SAT and SUN - 9/20 and 9/21

Come for a biking adventure on the Silver Comet trail.  Our September outing will be biking in Eastern Georgia.  This outing is a SAT and SUN outing.  We depart SUMC on Saturday morning.  Just have to get your bike to the church (maybe ride it??)

Aquatics 2014 - Outing report

The troop had a warm but great outing this past weekend.  Our campsite was on the Peninsula at Scoutland so all of camping area was lakefront. We had 38 scouts and 10 leaders in camp for the trip.  

Phillmont 2016 interest meeting - 8/25/2014

There will be a meeting on Monday 8/25/2014 at 6:45 pm to see if there is sufficient interest for a 2016 Philmont expedition.  This will be at the Troop Trailer.  Youth participants must be 14 years of age OR 13 years of age and completed the 8th grade at the time of the trek (June 2016)
In 2012 the troop sent 2 crews; 18 scouts and 6 leaders.  In 2014 the troop sent 1 crew; 10 scouts and 2 leaders.

Philmont Scout Ranch is the Boy Scouts of America's largest national High Adventure Base.  It covers 137,000 acres - about 214 square miles - of rugged mountain wilderness in the Sangre de Cristo (Blood of Christ) range of the Rocky Mountains in northern New Mexico.  Philmont Scout Ranch operates 34 staffed camps and 55 trail camps. Philmont has high mountains with rough terrain and elevations that range from 6,500 to 12,441 feet.

Our annual aquatics campout will be 8/22/14 - 8/24/14 at Scoutland on Lake Lanier.  Come and enjoy a lazy weekend at the lake.  Weather should be GREAT
Registration DEADLINE 8/18/2014 
Activities will include canoeing, swimming, campfire, camping out, fishing, and possibly boating.
FISHING CONTEST - For the longest fish caught (and released) by 5:00 pm on Saturday
CALL FOR BOATS - If you have a boat and would like to spend the day at the lake with the troop please let me know.  We will even provide lunch.  We already have 2 boats committed.  The more the merrier
Cost is $22 per scout
Golden Whisk is for Dinner Saturday and the theme is "All American Cookout"

Troop Transportation Information sheet

We would like all troop families need to fill out the attached transportation information form.  This will provide a database for the transporation coordinator when planning drivers for outings and events
