Welcome to Troop 525's Website!


Welcome to the website of Troop 525 in Peachtree Corners, GA! Chartered with eight boys in August 1984 Troop 525 is boy-led and each is required to hold leadership positions as he advances in rank. The troop meets each Monday night, while school is in session, beginning at 7:30 PM at Simpsonwood United Methodist Church (SUMC) 4500 Jones Bridge Circle, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092. This site contains information for the scouts, parents, members and volunteers of our troop. Visitors are always welcome. Come join us!

Boys who are older than 10, or who have completed the fifth grade can join the Boy Scouting program.  Cub Scouting is for boys in the first through fifth grades, or 7 to 10 years of age. For information about Cub Scouts please contact Pack 525 (pack525cubmaster @ gwinnettbsa dot org).

Walk Thru Bethlehem at Simpsonwood park

Time is approaching for the annual troop service project in support of the SUMC sponsored Walk Thru Bethlehem at Simpsonwood park.  This will be Fri - Sat - Sun - December 11 - 13.  Fri and Sat nights we are needed 6 - 9, Sun nigh 5 - 8.  The troop will light luminaries and collect canned food.

2015 Outdoor report

For 2015 the troop had a very busy outdoor program.  With this past weekend's Shoebox outing at Camp Jamison we had our last outdoor event for the year.  For the 11 troop events we had, the unit averaged 36 Scouts attending with an average of 9 leaders also attending.

Yes winter is coming, but it is also time to start planning for Summer camp.  Over the next several weeks we will be forwarding merit badge informaiton so Scouts can start thinking about what may interest them at camp.  Typically a combination of some required and some interest merit badges make for a balanced week

Shoebox campout in NOVEMBER.  Camp Jamison at Bert Adams.  
Meet at SUMC at 8:00 am on Saturday 11/14 - return about 12:30 on Sunday 11/15
In summary - Everything must fit in a shoebox for this outing.  Your food, clothing, gear, shelter, first aid, must all fit in a shoebox, or in your pockets. Wear your hat and jacket, carry your water bottle. No patrol cooking on this one, plan and bring your own meals (Lunch / Dinner / Breakfast)
As this will be a bit cooler at nights some things DO NOT have to fit in the Shoebox
- Sleeping bag
- Sleeping pad
There will be a stove and as a group we will heat water for any meals you plan.
Activities will include
- Shelter building 
- Water purification techniques
- Exploration of Big Rock area at Jamison
Contests will include
- Bestest shelter
- Bestest camp area
- Fire starting with 1 match
- Directions without a compass
- Cartography
- Height estimation
Cost: $5 per person

If you do not want to use PayPal on this one, we will take cash or check on the morning of the campout

Troop Annual Registration is due!  .  The fee is $97 - and has been for the last 5 years!  We need to wrap this up and get the recharter completed
